Homestudy Update

When starting our adoption journey - many who have done this before us noted that it can be a long road to getting there.  As much as I do believe this - the last month as just flown by!  I guess that is what happens when you're in the midst of your busy season, buying a home and adopting!

So - here is the homestudy update:

We had our first meeting shortly after my last post.  At this meeting, here is what we learned:

We will have 6 total "home study" meetings:
     1st being with both of us,  at the office, it was primarily informational along with some questions that are state-mandated
     2nd being just Dan, we each have a 1-on-1 at their office
     3rd being just me - mine is tomorrow morning!
     4th being both of us, in their office and it will be about trans-racial parenting {since we are open to a child of any race}
     5th one is also in office and is about openness {I may have the 4th and 5th meeting topics switched}
     6th is in our house {the NEW one!!}

After that - we wait to get finalized and then be on the waiting families list!! :) :) :)

In the mean time - we have books to read, seminars to attend and videos to watch :)

Oh! and a home to move into and wedding days we get to be part of!!  It is going to be an amazing, exciting and busy few months!

Over the last few days we did a mini-getaway of camping and fun just D, I and the pups.  During which we made a little video.  It isn't super informative about who we are - just a glimpse into a day out with us :)  We hope to use this to share with potential birth mothers as a bit more insight into a day in our lives - well, camping at least ;)
