Today - Layton was born. Five years ago this weekend was the first time I met Dan's family. Today Dan and I spent the day in Eau Claire celebrating Layton's {our nephew's} fifth birthday. Five years..... where did they go?
We drove to Eau Claire last night and got in once Layton was already asleep - so the four of us chatted for a bit - then Randy and I each went to bed while Dan stayed up and chatted with his mom for a bit longer. The next morning we awoke to Aylana being home already {she lives in Appleton and left at 4 in the morning to get to Eau Claire!} while Layton was off at preschool the house got ready for Layton's Dinosaur party : ) Dan and I took the dogs for a walk and soon after we were back - so was the birthday boy : ) The party started off with a Dinsoaur hunt, lunch, cake presents and then off to the Eau Claire Children's Museum. It was a great party!
But I also want to catch up on March so far....
I know I still haven't posted pictures from my trip to see Amy K in Portland - but I will - promise?!?
Anyways - life has going by a bit tooooo fast since I got back from Portland - we hardly had a winter {which isn't too bad I guess} but with the last few days {for foreseeable future} the temps are in the 70s! Which makes it feel like May! But it's March. March - well. it's March. It hasn't been the best month ever - my due date would be in 11 days.
I know that God has a plan. I know that no matter what having a family looks likes for us - it will be good. But that doesn't mean that it doesn't hurt sometimes. It still doesn't mean I don't cry sometimes. Because I do. I did yesterday before we left for the birthday party, today in the car and maybe again tomorrow. I don't cry every day at this point. March is just harder.
But - there are things that have made me smile recently that I wanted to share : ) My dear friend Andrea P has been so wonderful to me this month {and every other month of course!} Late one night last week I was trying to {not successfully} fall asleep and got a text from her. It's nice because D and I stay up late most every night and Andrea is usually up too {she works the night shift at Children's Hospital in the NICU}. I greatly appreciated {and always do!} her late night texts : )
Just a few days later Andrea and Jared had people over and I walked into the kitchen where Andrea gave me this:
: ) She knows me well : ) Chocolate, tea, a musical and bubble bath : ) {and a very sweet, heartfelt card}
I am so grateful for her friendship - I so very much look forward to many more years laughing, texting, Costco-ing and someday raising babies together : )
It's small things like what Andrea did for me that make a big difference. My love language is giving {gifts, making cakes, etc} so it's not to big a shock that little things like that mean a lot to me : )
Anyways - I'm now on the cold train {the sniffles started yesterday and got worse throughout today} so I should really get to bed.....
Love to you all,
k : )
